Magic card tricks are some of the easiest around, even children can do them. All your child needs to be able to do is count to act out this trick, it is based on simple maths and with a little showmanship and lots of practice can be pulled off without a problem.

Where to start:

First you will need a 52 card deck of cards which is the proper poker deck then you will turn to those who are watching the trick and tell them you are going to split the deck into various bundles, now shuffle the deck. The card at the top of each pile is the card that you begin with it is important to hold the decks facing upwards so you keep track of everything that is going on. There will be thirteen cards in each pile, ace is the first then count up from there. It will take a different amount of cards to reach thirteen because it depends on what the starting card is. Make a pile of cards starting with an ace and be sure there are thirteen cards in the pile. Your initial card is a two, so we will take the next card as number three, then the next as number four and so on until we have counted thirteen cards, it wont matter what the suits are. If the first card is a ten then count the following one as eleven, the next as twelve and finally thirteen to finish the pile off. Unlike the other piles this one will only have four cards. Count silently to yourself so you do not give it away. Sort the piles on the table with them facing up so that everyone can see them then once used flip them back over so that the bottom cards become the top ones.  Read more...

Here’s a word of advice to future opponents of Bobby Lashley–don’t make fun of his background in professional wrestling. Mike Cook found that out the hard way in the co-main event of Maximum Fighting Championships MFC 21: Hard Knocks. After spending the run up to fight week making fun of Lashley’s tenure in the WWE, Cook lasted a mere :24 seconds before being choked unconscious via a guillotine choke. The victory ran Lashley’s record in his brief MMA career to 3-0.

Perhaps Cook felt he was creating some sort of self doubt in the former WWE superstar by suggesting that he was out of his element in a real fight, but he turned it up a notch at the weigh in and in his ring entrance by donning a Mexican Lucha Libre mask. In prefight interviews, Cook had suggested that Lashley would soil himself once he entered the ring (though in not so erudite terms). That clearly incensed the massive 64 250 pound Lashley, who despite his inexperience in MMA is hardly the sort of individual prone to losing bowel control at the prospect of a fight.  Read more...

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva had lost a lot of his luster coming into Saturday nights UFC 101 matchup with former light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin. He was undefeated in his previous nine UFC contests, but his last three victories had been far from impressive. Hed beaten overmatched James Irvin last July in his first effort at 205. That was followed by a TKO win against Patrick Cote when Cote blew out his knee mid fight. In his most recent bout, hed pouted and showboated his way to a unanimous decision victory by default against a thoroughly overwhelmed Thales Leites. On that night in Montreal he’d heard an abundance of boos from the fans who at one point started a GSP chant in reference to his most frequent challenger for pound for pound MMA supremacy. Even Dana White criticized his effort and finally conceded that St. Pierre might, indeed, be the best all around fighter in the game.

That all changed at UFC 101. Silva was simply dominant as he overwhelmed the naturally larger Griffin, knocking his opponent down three times before finishing the fight with a spectacular–yet almost effortless–straight right hand. The TKO victory was The Spiders most impressive showing since his submission triumph over Dan Henderson at UFC 82. Ironically, Hendo–off his own devastating KO victory over Michael Bisping at UFC 100–will likely be Silva’s next challenger for his middleweight title.  Read more...

Although the Breeders’ Cup is nipping at its heels, without a doubt the Kentucky Derby is the biggest horse race of the year in the United States. This is a race that attracts many fans from the general public that typically don’t follow horse racing. A thorough understanding of horse racing, and which horses will win and why is a complex discipline that requires extensive specialized knowledge.

While understanding and predicting horse races is a very complex discipline, here are some basics that can help the amateur understand the Kentucky Derby. Back during the seventies, it was a race dominated by the favorite including three great Triple Crown winners–Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed–and a great horse that came close, Spectacular Bid. Since Spectacular Bid won the Derby in 1979, however, you can count the favorites who’ve won the race on one hand with fingers left over. If I was a serious horseplayer, I might not advise you to do this but since I’m just worried about predicting the outcome of this one race Im going to suggest that you forget about the favorite altogether. Last week I was shuffling down the street, trying my best to beat a hangover that was holding on for dear life. It was two in the afternoon, yet the cobwebs in my mind were refusing their grip on my sanity. Which is just as well, because what happened next surely destroyed plenty of my neural connections. I passed by this bookstore, and noticed this guy inside beckoning me to come in. Naturally, I complied.

I looked inside and noticed this one guy doing all these random card tricks for the people inside. I walked in, and they seemed to be regular run of the mill card tricks that most people learn in second grade. He would have people guess a card, put it back in the deck, and then immediately tell them what card it was. Needless to say it was rather impressive.

After that he seemed to tap into the dark forces of evil. He used some kind of black magic to reach into their minds, and pull out information. Then he would go outside, and stop a random person on the street, and put them into some kind of hypnotic trance. Then under the hypnotic trance, they would tell everybody the secrets that this magician had psychically extracted from the first guy. Most people were shocked beyond expression.  Read more...

The Atlanta Falcons are making a statement that they’ll be a factor in the NFC. The Falcons starters behind QB Matt Ryan were almost flawless, and left the reserves with a 14-0 lead before eventually beating the St. Louis Rams 20-13 at the Edward Jones Dome on Friday night.

Running back Michael Turner was unstoppable in his limited playing time, churning out 65 yards in the Falcons opening drive. After the game, he confirmed that the Falcons offense had placed a priority on sound execution:

“We wanted to come out and execute. They were preaching that all week and we wanted to show that on game day. We’re way better than we were last year at this time.”

Quarterback Matt Ryan was 7 of 8 for 81 yards and a touchdown pass before he called it a night. Tony Gonzalez caught Ryans TD pass and after the game was effusive in his praise for the young signal caller:

Clairvoyance is one of the most intriguing aspects of paranormal studies. There are many people who devote themselves to studying it. There is even a clairvoyance test that is administered to people who think they might be clairvoyant.

Clairvoyance is a controversial subject, with people convinced that it is entirely made up while others who have used their clairvoyant abilities are convinced that it is a very real thing.
