CAT | Web Design
The heart and soul of your web site depends on your web host. As such, this should be your primary focus when starting up your new site. Design and content are important, but if your target audience is unable to reach your site, it does not really matter how pretty it looks, or how relevant your content may be. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that you spend an appropriate amount of time researching the right web host for you.
One of the primary pitfalls that I find when dealing with webmasters seeking an appropriate hosting plan is that too much weight is put on the cost. While I can understand that not everyone can afford to pay for dedicated servers with dual Xeon processors and 4 GB of RAM, this does not mean that there are not affordable alternatives out there that can still provide you with the quality uptime you need and deserve.
I know that some will be quick to point out that there are free hosting services out there, but it should be pointed out that nothing is for free, and this holds especially true in the world of hosting.
Nowadays, there are many free webhosting services available on the Internet. Sometimes it can be difficult to choose which one is best for you. First of all, you need to bear in mind free wehosting usually have some limitations such as not allowed email accounts, no mysql databases, no perl etc. It varies from each web host.
There are sometimes hidden cost as well for free webhosting. For example, you need to register a domain name from the web host before you can have free web hosting. Other place restriction on bandwidth, disk space and if you exceed them, expect to pay some money.
Another type is some web host will place banners, text links etc on your webpage. Some only occupy a small amount of screen space while others can be as large as one-third. Geocities.com is an example of a free webhosting service that places banners, text links on your webpage.
With that said, if you really have no money, then there is no choice but to get free webhosting. It is also useful if you are new to web design and can use it for testing purposes. I still have one hosted on geocities with my first designed personal webpage.

In most of the cases when working with SEO service providers, to be competitive they will offer very attractive service charges and to build up fast satisfaction from the clients every “kind” of internet marketing techniques are going to be used.
The results can be magnificent. The website will rank at the top of the SERPs within a short time and you, the client, might be in such belief that you have succeeded in optimizing your website and are expecting the flows of web traffic to come. There can be some increase in your web traffic, but most likely that it’s not the maximized one.
Why? Because you only did or got done the SEO for half of the purpose – just for the sake of fast high rankings and not for the very thing you want, targeted traffic. So to get both at the same time, what should be noted down?
Your descriptions and tags must look professional (as it should actually be). 80% based on the content of these parts the surfers will decide if they should click on the link or not.

Many web users tend to lose sight of the amazing web accessibility features available. Most of the webmasters that create the websites we surf on a daily basis do not need accessible features, but many other web users do! This is why it is so important not to lose sight of the diversities that make up the internet users worldwide. Many people using the worldwide web tend to become discouraged by a long list of sites that do not meet their needs.
Why Make My Site Accessible?
Why not? Using advanced web accessibility features on your site is the best move you can make. Just because someone has a certain disability doesn’t mean that they do not surf the web. These people enjoy learning and shopping online just as much the rest of us. Not use web accessibility features will potentially lose you visitors and sales.
Besides the loss in sales and visitors, you may face legal action. There are laws in certain areas that prohibit the denial of people with disabilities to your site. That is why you should always take time out to add web accessibility features to your site.
One basic thing which all website designers should know is to make the site user-friendly and not a strain to the visitors. You are aware that that there are a lot of really imaginative ways you can make your web page distinctly unique. Your objective must be to lure visitors to your site and ensure they stay there for long and not make them uncomfortable that they may leave in a hurry. Please bear in mind that many people do not use the latest versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer. Therefore avoid using scripts or things that are not supported by older browsers as you may be wasting too much time. Make it a point to test your Web pages on different browsers and satisfy they work.
Although Frames generally look fascinating and offer help for the designer, they are not convenient for search engines and they also do not offer the viewer the options of book-marking individual pages. Spend time to think about the nature of content and how it should be organized. This is as important as what your pages look like. You well tease your readers if they cannot easily find what they’re looking for if everything is thrown up on your site in a haphazard fashion. In today’s age, image backgrounds are considered amateurish. It is hard to find any professional, respected site that uses image backgrounds – be it Google, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon, the New York Times, Webmaster World etc.

Website Design: Stick to the Rules, or Just Wing It?
0 Comments | Posted by admin in Web Design
There are many different ways that one can go about designing and creating their own website. While there is no real defined set of rules or standards when it comes to web design, there are some methods that are more common, and there are some practices that are better accepted in the industry than others. But if you are designed your own website, you are going to want to build the most effective website that you possibly can. And this is where the question arises, should you design a website according to scientific standards and rules or just make a good, visually-appealing website?
The answer to this question varies by case-to-case and from person to person. If you are designing a personal website for your own behalf, there is no need to stick to any set of rules or standards whatsoever. Just do whatever feels right, and whatever looks the best to you. Since it is your own personal website, you should have the freedom to do with it whatever you would like, and this includes the design. Of course, if you make something to obscure or abstract you may not attract many visitors – and some people might even want it this way. Again, because it is your own website, the choice is completely up to you; nobody is going to tell you that it is right or wrong.
Web development is a term used to describe building a webpage for the World Wide Web or possibly an intranet network. However it the term is generally used to focus on the coding or mark-up aspect of the website creation, not necessarily the design aspect.
Large companies can have hundreds of workers developing things for the web. This is contrary to a small business which may have one single person designated as the ‘webmaster’ that oversees the coding and design of the website and objects therein.
There are many aspects of web development that are necessary to development a website. There’s more than just one coding language and usually a person will be required to know most of the languages in order to be an applicant for a job.
What are some programming languages I’d need to know?
If you were serious about web development the first language to learn is called HTML (hyper text markup language). It’s the basis for most websites on the internet today. The rules of the code are regulated by a particular website on the net and most employers would like their employees to stick to those rules.
